At Preston College, the level of course you start will depend upon the grades you get from GCSEs, GNVQs and other qualifications you take at high school. Your GCSEs are worth the following points:
A* = 8 points A = 7 points
B = 6 points C = 5 points
D = 4 points E = 3 points
F = 2 points G = 1 point
(GCSE short courses are worth half the
score of a full GCSE. Applied GCSE's
are equivalent to two single GCSE's,
e.g. an Applied GCSE at Grade C is
worth 10 GCSE points).

AS Levels
Students who have successfully
passed AS Level courses can progress
to A2 courses (depending upon the
awarding body).
To work out your Point Score, you must use the grades you get for Maths and English Language, and then your next best five grades. Don’t worry If you apply for a course, but your ‘real grades’ are higher or lower than you expected, or you want to change courses, we can easily alter your application when you enrol.
If you're unsure about what to do next, contact us and we'll help you find a course that's right for you.
